Achoo Cynthia Sherwood Super Teacher Worksheets
Achoo Cynthia Sherwood Super Teacher Worksheets – 1 We know him as Inyangmugayo Abe, who was born in a wooden house. Abraham Lincoln was the sixteenth President of the United States. Every year on Presidents Day, we honor him as one of the greatest men in our nation’s history. Abe Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 in Kentucky. At night he studied by candlelight, but during the day he worked in his father’s field. As an adult, he lived in Illinois and became a lawyer. He served in Congress where he spoke out against slavery. When Lincoln was elected president in 1860, the country was deeply divided over the issue of slavery. 11 Southern states decided to secede from the United States. This meant that they set out to establish their own country, which later led to a civil war. President Lincoln fought to keep America united as one united nation. In the Gettysburg Address, President Lincoln honored the thousands of soldiers who died in that battle. He called upon the nation to come together so that the rule of the people, by the people, of the people in the world is not destroyed. The civil war ended after a long gap of four years. He kept America united during its greatest crisis. Today, we revere him as the man who helped end slavery. We remember him as a great leader who led his country in the worst of times.
