Post 9/11 Gi Bill & Transfer Of Educational Benefits
Once the VA receives your Certificate of Eligibility and Information Form and you register for classes, we will confirm your credit hour registration with the VA. This certification prompts the VA to begin processing the Book Allowance and Housing Allowance (if applicable) on your benefits. These benefits are paid directly to you, not .
After the drop/collect period has passed, your certificate will be revised to include your tuition and fees. This late correction is a VA requirement to prevent funds from being exchanged between VA and schools when students’ enrollments are corrected. After these adjustments are completed, it will take approximately four to six weeks for the VA to receive the appropriate tuition and fees. If our business office knows you’re a student using Chapter 33, and it’s automatically credited to your account after you receive the money from the VA, opt out of late payments.
As long as you are continuously enrolled for subsequent semesters, we will confirm your enrollment with the VA. This will be automatic unless you inform us that you do not wish to be certified for a particular course, term and/or semester.
If you have already used some of your Post-9/11 GI Bill® benefits at another school, you must transfer the use of your benefits from your previous institution by completing VA Form 22-1995. Once your transfer is approved, you will receive an updated Certificate of Eligibility that you must submit to the Department of Military Affairs and Veterans Affairs. This enrollment certificate prompts VA to send the tuition fee to S, which takes about 30 days to receive. Harry W. Veterans Assistance Act. In 2017, Colmer allowed dependents of a veteran/service member to designate and transfer post-9/11 GI Bill ownership, unused and transferred upon the death of the veteran/service member or dependent.
The law comes into effect on August 1, 2018 and applies to deaths that occurred after August 1, 2009.
If you are a veteran/service member and you are transferred to a deceased dependent, you can transfer them to another eligible dependent.
Use Your Gi Bill
If the person you want to transfer is already in DEERS, go to themilConnect page to transfer.
Dependents must be enrolled in DEERS prior to transferring inmilConnect (note: transfer in this situation requires transferring in milConnect).
Establishing a dependent not currently in DEERS requires a visit to the Real-Time Automated Person Identification Center (RAPIDS). A dependent will need two forms of unexpired identification, one with a photo.
If you are a dependent of a veteran/service member who died after August 1, 2009 and have unused transfers, you may transfer them to another dependent of the veteran/service member.
