Lesson Plan Lesson Title: Cosmetology Lesson Title: Permanent Hair Cutting Specific Objectives: 1. Define lesson-related terms. Demonstrate how to use a mirror as a cutting aid.3. Show that the stick is centered on the nose.4. Show using lines/dots and separate rat section with rat tail comb.5. Demonstrate how to separate the occiput.6. Show front fenders.7. Show the middle parts of the back.8. To match the front sides, the racket part is shown separately. 9. Demonstrate how to measure with a permanent stick. 10. A long permanent rod Materials needed: PPTE capture diskette Equipment needed: Web TV or projector to run the PPT trainer The student will be provided with a 90° mannequin, stand, rat tail comb, 9 jaw pliers, a water bottle and a fishing rod. Remember that this section must be mastered before riding. OutlineOutline (LSI Quadrant II): Note: Teacher can use PPT slides while showing students each step. I. Show students the permanent handle and explain that the length of the pieces must be included in its length. A. Show students the lines and dots at the ends of the rods. B. Explain that lines and dots should be divided into guides. II. Demonstrate how to use a mirror as a cutting aid. III. Show that the stick is centered on the top of the nose. A. Place the stick on top of the nose and check the mirror. IV. Using dashes/dots, show the separation of the rat with a rat tail comb. A. Make your 1st fork and check in the mirror for accuracy. B. Smooth part 1 with a perm stick, then do part 2. Check the accuracy in the mirror. C. Explain that this area extends to the occiput. D. Remind students that all hair ends should be tucked into the chin straps. V. Show how to remove the mast. A. Explain to students that the occipital bone is where it crosses the back of the neck. B. Explain that the center should hold the long rod. C. Explain that the lateral occipital lobes will hold the short rod. VI. Show the front parts. A. Show students how to measure sides with a stick. B. Explain that the front sides should end behind the ears. VII. Show the middle back pieces. A. Explain to students that the rods must cross. B. Teach students that the occipital bone is on the bone. 1. Lower horizontal partitions must be in a single row. 2. Explain to students that splitting horseshoes is not acceptable. VII. Show the bangs to match the front sides. VII. Demonstrate how to measure with a perm stick. Application Guided Practice (LSI Quadrant III): Students will be guided and demonstrate straight standing wave sections using PPT. The teacher will re-teach the lesson if necessary. Independent Practice (LSI Quadrant III): Students will practice cutting out their own mannequins. Summary (LSI Quadrants I and IV): Q: What is this type of incision called? Assessment Informal Assessment (LSI Quadrant III): The teacher should monitor the student’s performance during the lesson. Ensure the necessary conversion. Formal Assessment (LSI Quadrant III, IV): Score manic sections using a scoring chart. Extension/Enrichment (LSI Quadrant IV): ▪ Students will have the opportunity to practice this technique on clients during client lab days. .▪ Students will be timed according to this procedure at the end so that they can pass this part of the state exam in sufficient time.
