Cut the blue cardstock 6″ x 7″ so that it is a 6″ x 3 1/2″ book when folded.

Then cut out a circle for the passport cover and attach it to the front page of each book with hot glue.
You will then need to cut and fold 2 pieces of white paper so they are 6″ x 3 1/2″ when folded. This will result in 8 pages (with front and back) in your fake passport book.
Thread about 15 inches of string onto the needle. Pass the needle and string through the book as shown.
Step 1. Pull the needle and thread through the center of the white leaves and through the back of the blue leaves. Be sure to keep a “tail” of thread inside the book to tie off at the end.

Step 2. Pass the needle back through the blue, about 2 inches to either side of the center, and back through the white.
Step 3. Put the needle back through the same center hole you used first and out the back again.
Step 4. Pull the needle and thread back through the blue, this time about 2 inches to the other side of the center.
Cut out a passport photo page and printable passport template pages for each continent and paste each white page into a passport craft book. Now each child will have their own pass (ok, play pass, not real pass)!
Kids Printable Passport
Once the passport preparation is complete, your kids can start personalizing their free printable passport activity book. Have your children paste their photo on the passport photo page. Then ask them to fill in information about themselves, including their full name and date of birth. The children’s passport photo and personal information page is a good opportunity to explain to children that each country issues passports to its citizens after they have completed a passport application. Citizenship is usually based on place of birth, so if your children are born in the US, they are US citizens.
As children learn about different continents, they can add information to the blank pages for each continent. Have them write down the main countries with each continent’s capital in the back spread.
Talk about the weather and things that each continent is geographically known for. Introduce them to world culture and some interesting facts about different countries.
You can even have them earn “visa stamps” for completing a foreign country background page or completing a country research project. They could also earn passport stamps to draw the flags of different countries on their respective side of the continent.

If you’ve been on family trips outside of the US, ask your kids which continent they visited? It can also be hypothetical. For example, if you went on a family trip to Colombia, do they know what it is?

Although it may be difficult to go there physically, that doesn’t mean we can’t learn about different countries and take our own virtual trips there.
We used the Ready-to-Read series “Living…” to learn more about Russia. The ready-to-read books touch on a variety of topics, such as exciting non-fiction, beloved characters, and fan favorites! Help your child learn to read with these fun readers.
We learned that Russia is the largest country in the world and spans 11 time zones because it is so big. Siberia occupies three quarters of the land of Russia, while only 27% of the population lives there.
We found out what children’s day would look like in Russia and what food they would eat. They pass through the capital and the main landmarks.

The book talked about Peter the Great and what he did for Russia. The book was easy for a child to follow and gave them enough information to answer the comprehension questions at the end of each book, but not too much detail to overwhelm them.
The three books I had were level 2 and 3. You can see significant differences in the Level 3 books as they become more detailed and the sentence structure and length of the book increases and becomes more difficult.
