Academic Class PSAT Test/Practice – What is the PSAT test outside of school? This is a standardized test that provides direct practice for the SAT®. Both the SAT and ACT are standardized tests used in the application process by many colleges and universities. The ELHS Armed Services Professional Aptitude Battery is the most widely used aptitude test battery in the world. As an aptitude test, the ASVAB measures your strengths, weaknesses, and potential for future success. The ASVAB also provides you with career information for various civilian and military careers. By the time he was in seventh grade, Alamo, a Puerto Rican, said he felt comfortable in the mostly Hispanic Fairhaven neighborhood. But he began to notice a lack of opportunity in his low-income community. His parents’ house was also closed. And Alamo’s family was in financial trouble. They’re not alone — New Haven has one of the highest unemployment rates in the state, on average. And more than 25 percent of residents live in poverty.
“School is always interesting and easy for me. So there’s no question that I’m going to college,” Alamo said, “but that’s when I know, ‘Oh, I’m not going to have a chance to go to college if I don’t.’ No money.'”
