Even if you’ve written a great letter, if it’s all crammed on the page, it will be hard to read. Use bold letters for important points.

Put things around that you want people to notice. Capital letters are another way of adding emphasis. Make it so that someone can look at your page and see the important points without having to read every word.

If you’re asking for a favor, don’t push people to help you. The best way to do this is to include an envelope that already has the address where they need to send the help as well as a stamp to pay for whatever they are sending. Do not allow any possibility of confusion. You can also include a small piece of paper with your name on it to let the person receiving the donation know that “This donation is to support (your name).”

I hope you will commit to praying for the journey. I know with your prayers and support that God will help us all move through this experience and use this journey for His glory. I also hope you will consider helping me with the financial cost of my trip. The total amount I need to raise for my travel expenses is $1,000. I am excited to announce that God has opened the door for me to travel to Lima, Peru in South America this summer! I will be traveling to Peru with my church student team from 1-8 July. While there our group will travel to various local churches throughout the country to help them reach people with the good news of Jesus Christ. We partner with the local church in the area by presenting plays, sharing our testimonies, working with children, and doing various work projects to tell people that God loves them and cares for them.

Our team will be very busy preparing for our trip for the next few months. We will practice our plays, prepare our testimonies, learn some language, and most importantly, grow together as a team. I would like to invite you to be part of our team too! We need people who will pray for us as we prepare and as we go along, and those who can help share some of the cost of the journey.

Would you pray to be part of my support team? I am putting together a prayer and advocacy team, and I would love it if you would consider me one of my prayer partners. Call me at 555-555-5555. We plan to regularly update our prayer team with prayer requests and hymn reports on our student ministry blog.
