Teacher Welcome Letter To Parents – I can’t believe it, but new carpet was *finally* installed in my room, and I walked in for the first time yesterday, Tuesday. And then tomorrow.

One thing I can cross off my list is my welcome letter, thanks to Jodi over at Fun in First!

And sometimes, my teammates and other teachers would tell me that they printed a flyer and put it on a postcard to leave everything.

Jody became a genius at Fun in First. And he shared his brain with the rest of us. And now I don’t have to write postcards by hand.

And the QR code makes my letter personal so there’s no reason to write it by hand. . . No reason at all. Because this letter has my voice!

It didn’t matter if it took about 4893 until I couldn’t take it anymore, and I just had to accept that the sound that came out of the QR code was the sound of my voice. I mean – I don’t like it. After trying the reading and listening samples, some people said that my voice was not what they expected.

My voice is my voice unless I speak in my southern accent (which I do over and over again) or until I catch the flu or speak with my lisp (Totho thali is that I am!) or until I decide to change for a more dramatic reason. .

And let’s take a moment to notice that I used the same image as my blog image. ahem well So this isn’t my latest photo, but it’s in black and white, so who’s going to care, really?

PS If you want your letter, go to Jodi’s right. It has a free template and step-by-step instructions on how to register

I had to send him a message because, for some reason, the QR code wouldn’t download. Jodi suggests right clicking and saving. It worked perfectly!

But I finally figured out my download problem. I was using Safari. Once I switched to Google Chrome, it was very happy and allowed me to download QR codes. Do you send your students a welcome back to school letter before school starts? I like to take this opportunity to welcome my students to my class! As a parent, I love it. My two daughters eagerly await their letters every year.

Last year I added something special, and gave it a technological twist. I’ve had great ideas from teachers everywhere who want to do this for the upcoming school year, so I wanted to share it with you again.

Have you heard of QR codes? I’m sure you’ve seen them around because they’re on almost everything now. I decided to add a QR code to my welcome letter. The QR code is attached to a recording of what I read the letter to new students.

Go ahead… try it. If your phone doesn’t have a QR reader, you can download one for free in your app store.

1. Download the Cloud QR app. I believe I paid $4.99 for the app, but it was worth it to me. I also use it for other things in my classroom.

3. It automatically receives your QR code. Then, you can save the QR code directly to your phone.

If you would like to download a template from my letter, click here. I have placed text boxes on the pages for you to enter, but you can delete text boxes, move them around or add new ones. In this download, I have included Pre-K through 5th grade. I also added a simple one to help my Australian friends.

I love that it gives my students a chance to hear my voice while getting to know a little more about me. It’s about establishing those relationships with your students from the beginning.

Well, I wish I could take credit for this gem of a tutorial I’m about to share with you. My sister (who started teaching five years before me) shared this letter with me before my first year of teaching. For the next 12 years, I made sure to send him home on the first day of school.

This letter is truly the most important thing I send home all year! I call this letter “parent homework,” which the students will get a kick out of. Before I get into why I think every teacher should send home a letter like this, please read…

There are many reasons for this letter, but perhaps the most important reason to send it home is to let parents know (from the first day of school) that you value their input. Parents should feel “heard” and that their “voice” is welcome. When you send this letter home, you are giving them this great opportunity to interact with you
