The graphical router plays an active role in the room. GR works alone or as part of a team to create group processes. They may create a model as part of the process, and as part of the group exercise they will use a variety of visual materials (stickers, multiple input-gathering charts, models to guide the process, visual cards, etc.). This example shows a model created for a group process by a facilitator and a graphical facilitator. A model is also shown after groups work independently, in pairs and in small groups through an interactive process.

Facilitate a full-day schedule with elementary school teachers for a professional development day. We created a 10-year timeline (Journey Map or Heritage Wall) of their school. After the teachers worked in groups in the morning, going through their organization’s history and posting their content stickers, we arranged it and then I started drawing. Staff move on to other activities throughout the day and check progress between other sessions. We gather to end the day by appreciating and appreciating their heritage wall. Reviewing milestones was powerful for both new and returning employees – knowledge gained along the way was appreciated, long-serving employees were respected and recognized, and new employees were honored to join the ongoing journey.

A multi-day strategic planning retreat took a group of healthcare professionals over 3, 5 and 10 years to change working styles from presentations and discussions to art supplies to tell their organization’s story. The future. Together, they broke into small groups to draw their ideas and place them around the room each time. They took me on a gallery walk and shared their vision with the whole group. I spent the day piecing the work together into a visualization. As the facilitation team revisited the chart with them, it became clear which areas were prime for deeper discussion and where there was a shared vision. Oh people! The scope of World Cafe changes frequently, and we appreciate it if you plan to hire a Graphic Coordinator/Graphic Recorder (GF/GR) to document your course. Having participants write and visualize their words is powerful validation. In addition to the confirmation, they provide a written guarantee that their contribution will remain part of the dialogue even after the end of the World Cafe.

These terms, such as graphic recording, visual notes, and graphic notes, are used interchangeably to describe the process of being a listener who carefully uses words and images to convey what is happening in the room. My favorite part of being a visionary intern is working in a room full of such energy, creating positive visions for the future, but Sara and Miguel are always talking about all the things that are going wrong. Visual Design works like a silent router. It includes instructions, directions and blank spaces for participants to fill in with their knowledge, ideas and understanding. Sometimes the instructor guides the participants through a visual model, other times they give guided instructions and give the participants time to work in groups. how much time It depends on the group and the model!

When using a visual model, the presenter and participants manage the process. When questions and ideas are visualized, it becomes easier to identify what knowledge and planning is missing. It’s a silent signal that encourages participants not to get stuck on a single step or part of the process, helping to make the meeting faster, smoother, and easier.
